2015 Lawrenceburg Remembers 9/11 Ceremony
Press release
The Lawrenceburg Fire Department and Main Street Lawrenceburg are partnering to honor and remember those lost and the acts of heroism displayed during the 9/11/01 terror attacks Friday, September 11, 2015 with the third annual City of Lawrenceburg 9/11 Remembrance Service.
This year’s program will be held on the campus of Lawrence County High School at the Hendrix-Staggs Stadium during halftime of the Lawrence County vs Columbia Central football game. The ceremony will begin at approximately 8 p.m.
This ceremony will include a special presentation honoring first responders that perished during the 9/11 attack. Local public safety workers will also pay tribute to the police, fire, and EMS personnel from Lawrence and Maury Counties who have made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives in the line of duty here locally.
LFD Firefighter and event planner Tyler McDow stated, “During the 9/11 attack 343 first responders died in the line of duty. I feel that we should remember those who paid the ultimate price while trying to help those in need both locally and across the nation.
In light of recent events, our emergency responders need the support of our community more than ever. We would ask that everyone please attend this ceremony to show support to our local Police, Fire, and EMS who continue to serve our local communities daily.
“Each of us remembers where we were the morning of the 9/11 attacks and how we felt watching the events unfold before our eyes. A lot of things have changed since then, but one thing that’s remained the same is the commitment, bravery, and heroism of our public safety workers. Come out and honor those lost, but remember to thank those who are currently serving,” McDow said.
